According to new regulation, from now on entrance to Chinese Internet bars will be available only by swiping the new-generation ID cards.
In China most people don’t surf Internet using their personal computers, but go to special «网吧» -Internet bars , where you can spend all your day sitting in a soft armchair drinking soft drinks. You could, actually. Because not long ago all Internet bars have been fitted with readers for new cards and that if they are manipulated, an alarm will be sent to the police, who will fine the establishment. Second-generation ID card is a plastic card with a photo and magnetic stripe on it, which can be received only by citizens who reached sixteen years, and there are many adults who didn’t change their first-generation ID cards still. So what was the reason for imposing these new card-readers to every ‘net bar? There can be many reasons: firstly, this innovation can help to stop the growth of ‘net – addicted students (it was them, who used to get stuck in ‘net bars for days, playing on-line games; secondly, now you can get detailed information which web-sites who and when visited.
But as a result (or maybe that was just a part of a plan), not only schoolchildren got cut off from internet, but military personnel and foreigners living in China also don’t have permission to issue ID cards, and as a result, can’t enter ‘net bars. New regulation also affected owners of the Internet - bars, as the number of visitors has decreased dramatically. But as some foreign students say, employees of several bars were very good to them using their own ID cards to allow students to surf the ‘net.
Nevertheless there is already one foreigner receiving second-generation ID card in China.

Just kidding.
