Limiting, Expanding And Creating Reality

We all live, communicate and work. What are we surrounded with? We’re surrounded with reality.

But what does reality represent?

Bookish definition of reality is quite simple. According to it, “reality is a whole world with its forms variety. And one should feel difference between objective reality as the material world objectively existing in the matter of fact and subjective reality as the world created by individual perception”.

Quite an interesting situation appears in result. On the one hand, we exist in the objective reality being surrounded with material world in all its multiformity. On the other hand, how do we perceive this world? By means of our individual perception only.  The perception of each separate person limits his own reality and makes it subjective.

Practically we can’t perceive properly the unity, invariability and integrity of the real world around us. We’re not ready to agree that if we approach to reality objectively it means that the reality is one, and every single person just sees it differently, describes it differently and think of it differently. In so doing, the single reality is processed and comprehended subjectively.

Why does it happen?

Let’s try to sort out the matter. What does the reality mean in our case? As for us, that is the physical reality, which is filled with material world; that is irrational reality – which represents reality of thoughts, relations and actions. And every one of us estimates one’s own personal reality as something boundless. But what if agree that personal reality is subjective and try to split hairs of the objective reality? It’s very likely that in such case we’ll hardly have time for something more. It’s highly probable that we’ll be snowed trying to describe what we face.  And in result we can move no longer.

That is why exactly human thinking uses filters and patterns, passing only some part of information necessary for his work. And having passed through filters and patterns, the objective reality turns for us into the subjective reality. We simplify the reality and narrow it up to perception borders required for our filters.

What serves as the basis for these filters is language of our thinking and communication. We see only what we can describe by means of words.

How many things do our filters make us miss? What actually does our reality represent itself? And – the most important is – what should and could be done with all of that?

On the one hand, filters and patterns let through only the things we are able to describe, understand their meaning and get arranged with their sense. All the things which are really important for us. On the other hand, our built-in filters move us away from reality.

Just imagine a forest.

That one where trees grow. If to try to go further in detail, each person will imagine one’s own forest. The word “forest”, being passed through our filters and patterns, will give us completely different images: sunny birch wood, oak dense forest, dark windbreak of fur-trees and pines and even deserted cherry garden. Agree that in the objective reality all this can be named as a forest. But the subjective reality will be much narrower.

And what to do when filters touch everything we see and perceive? The subjective reality may turn into ideal illusion which doesn’t correspond absolutely to reality as such.

Let’s carry on. Each filter is the set of patterns for thinking. For information sensing. Completely the same patterns are the patterns for our behavior, communication and information analysis. It appears that not only what we see but also what we do and think represent different sets of filters and patterns.

How to estimate the subjective reality? The more considerable quantity of filters and patterns the person uses, the richer his subjective reality becomes. At the same time very often number of our patterns and filters increase unconsciously. It happens so, because we do not differentiate two realities: the real one and the template one which is passed through filters. We don’t understand that communication and action filters and templates are most time imposed upon us from outside.

How can we enrich and expand our reality by ourselves?

We can consciously increase the quantity and quality of patterns of thinking, actions and communication. We also may openly perceive all new information and may be ready to accept and understand other’s filters and patterns.

Skillful application of more number of patterns will give us more true reality. Will we be able realize the whole reality someday? Probably, not. But “yes” if it is in volume which is necessary and sufficient in order to qualitatively and adequately orientate in surrounding actuality.

Does our perceived reality expand only with the help of skillful operating of huge amount of constantly growing filters and patterns? Yes, but only physically. We see and perceive more and more. We do less predicted for other people actions and come apparently to not ordinary conclusions. Actually we do it only by using not the accepted pattern but the other one which we’ve already had.

Situation change is also possible at qualitative level. For this purpose, it’s necessary only to group, reconstruct and sometimes to destroy patterns.

This one is really art of masters. it’s something to be endowed with that.

Just a simple example. We all know perfectly that an iron piece can’t fly up. It goes without confirmation by any proofs.. At the same time, we know also that a plane constructed from iron can fly up in most cases. And again any arguments are worthless here. We’ve already had all of them. We’ve already known it. But what if we’re sure only in the first dogma? And how to invent a plane in this case? After all, still there is some usual pattern to be broken or reconstructed in the way to make possible the plane turn into in a flying machine contrary to the heavy and clumsy piece of iron. The same thing can be said about ships, cars, telecommunication and many others.

Everything that have ever been invented, dicsovered or written in books and painted in pictures only then moved mankind forward and gained admiration when if it leant on new combination or destruction of existing patterns and filters. All of these, in its turn, generated and still generate new filters and patterns for the rest.

New filters and patterns appeared change, create and form reality. The more number of people is captured by these new filters and patterns, the closer becomes the subjective reality of the creator-person, to the common objective reality.

If you’re able and ready to perceive such an attitude to the reality then you’re also able to create this reality. In that case you have no more borders then, because any borders are just our own (or – whats’ more often - somebody else’s!!!) filters and patterns.

What is possible and important to note in the end?

Reality is invariable and boundless. We limit it and make it subjective. We get miss immense possibilities affectedly and unconsciously, with our own hands. By getting new filters and patterns we can expand our own reality and bring it to the objective and common reality. Combining and breaking patterns and changing filters we can create the common reality. Rapprochement really can be done in the opposite direction: we can make the common reality closer to the personal one.

Wthin our power are steps on the way from the craft to the art …
