Lucid Dreaming

Previously we were discussing what dreams are and where are they coming from.

Have you ever thought about controlling your dreams and making your own reality, to fly,  to pass through the walls?

Let’s start with the theory.

Lucid dream it’s a dream when a person 100% understands that he sleeps in his bed and the world around him is build in his imagination. By the way, absolutely real world, sometimes it seems even more authentic than the real one. When a person finds himself in a lucid dream, he can stop the game according to the dream scenario (he can stop reacting on the scenario) and start a new game, the one, which is more interesting for him.

Some people don’t believe in lucid dreaming, because they never experienced it. But each person can try it, can try to enter a lucid dream, he just needs to train special methods of entering it. Stephen LaBerge was the one who discovered lucid dreaming and proved they do exist. While sleeping, most of the person’s muscles are blocked, because of the danger of somnambulism. While sleeping, people are usually in their “mental body” when the physical body stays still. Only eyes are moving. During the experiment a person under a test should do a special exercise with his eyes when he finds himself in a lucid dream. He should move his eyes up and down, left and right, look around etc…While the person was sleeping brain sensors were fixing the sleeping condition, eye moving sensors were fixing exactly the moves that should be done by the person under the test. When the person woke up he proved he had lucid dreaming and made those special exercises. This experiment was held in various conditions and the scientist came to the conclusion – a person can be conscious while dreaming and do whatever he wants to. Lucid dreaming does exist.

Same brain channels are responsible for the muscles moving while you are dreaming and while you are not, that helps to develop motor function when you are sleeping.

The research showed that lucid dreaming can help people to get rid of their evident and secret fears. For example, when the person is falling down, he can start flying or change the scenario of his dream. This will help him to do a self-analysis and to be more confident in his real life.

People who experienced lucid dreaming say that you should set a goal and achieve it while dreaming, but don’t expect you achieve it from the first time. When you have a lucid dream for the first time it is usually short-term, but it becomes longer if you practice more. But the main thing is to understand that you are dreaming, for example try to pierce the wall, read the same sentence twice ( they say if you try to read a sentence for the second time it will change and letters start to jump) or throw something. In” Inception” movie, the main character used little humming-top, which didn’t stopped when he was dreaming. Each person has to have their own way of defining the reality.

Are lucid dreams that incredible? You have to decide, it’s your choice. Just remember, if you want to experience lucid dreaming you have to believe in it. Enjoy your journey in the land of nod and take care!
